Diving In: the Art of Cleaning Lakes & Oceans | CLOSED
If you are a Pemberton visual artist, interested in raising awareness about the health of our waterways while working with recycled/unusual materials, we want to hear from you!
This project asks artists from participating Sea to Sky communities, to create wall-mounted artwork using waste diverted from the bottoms of local lakes and ocean shorelines as collected by Divers for Cleaner Lakes and Oceans and their volunteers.
The selected Pemberton artist will be asked to collaborate with local schools to involve and educate young locals during this art project.
The project timeline is as follows:
Sea to Sky shoreline and lake clean ups are scheduled from June 2021 through October 2021. The Pemberton, One Mile Lake clean up and dive is taking place on October 29, 2021.
The artist will pick up their collected materials from a designated location and will have December 2021 till mid-March 2022 to create an original work of wall-mounted art, using these materials.
The completed artwork will be featured in a touring show, through participating Sea to Sky communities from April 2022 till November 2022.
An honorarium will be paid to the selected artist.
To apply, please email Angela at email@example.com, before Oct. 1st with your expression of interest. Tell us a little about your art, yourself and any ideas you have for this project. Photos of past, completed artwork are also appreciated!
